DPO Calculator

Count days past ovulation for today or another target date, then compare that timing with estimated implantation and pregnancy test windows.

Enter an ovulation estimate

If you do not know the ovulation date, the last-period option estimates it from cycle length.

Defaults visibly to today; choose another date for past or future timing.

What DPO means

DPO means “days past ovulation.” Ovulation day is counted as 0 DPO, the following calendar day is 1 DPO, and so on. If the target date is before ovulation, the calculator reports how many days remain instead of showing an invalid positive DPO.

The calculation uses calendar-day differences, so crossing a month, year, daylight-saving change, or leap day does not introduce a one-day timezone shift.

Example calculation

If ovulation was July 10 and the target date is July 18, the result is 8 DPO. That falls within an often-cited central implantation range, but it does not show that implantation occurred. If the target date is July 8, the result is two days before estimated ovulation.

Accuracy and less reliable estimates

DPO is only as reliable as the ovulation date. Calendar methods estimate ovulation; OPKs identify an LH surge rather than confirming release of an egg; basal body temperature usually supports a retrospective pattern. PCOS, irregular cycles, postpartum changes, breastfeeding, perimenopause, illness, and hormone changes can make timing less predictable.

Do not use DPO alone to diagnose pregnancy, infertility, implantation, or a cycle disorder. Seek medical care for severe pain, heavy bleeding, fainting, pregnancy concerns, or persistent cycle changes.

DPO FAQ

How many DPO am I?

Subtract the ovulation date from the target date. This tool performs that calendar-date calculation without converting the input to local or UTC midnight.

Can I get a positive test at 8 DPO?

Some early positives are possible, but many pregnancies will not be detectable then. A negative result at 8 DPO is not conclusive.

What DPO does implantation happen?

A broad research-based range often discussed is about 6–12 DPO, with variation between pregnancies.
