7 Subtle Signs That
You Are Ovulating

While a calendar can predict your dates, your body gives you real-time signals. Listening to these signs is the most accurate way to identify your fertile window.

1. "Egg White" Cervical Mucus

This is the most reliable sign. As you approach ovulation, your estrogen levels rise, causing your cervical mucus to become clear, slippery, and stretchy—like raw egg whites. This texture helps sperm swim up to the egg.

2. Heightened Sense of Smell

Some studies suggest that women's sense of smell sharpens in the latter half of the menstrual cycle. This might be an evolutionary trait to help attract a suitable male pheromone!

3. Breast Tenderness

The rush of hormones just before and after ovulation can cause your breasts to feel heavy, sore, or tender to the touch.

4. Mild Pelvic Pain (Mittelschmerz)

Some women feel a sharp twinge or cramp on one side of their lower abdomen. This sensation, known as Mittelschmerz (German for "middle pain"), happens when the egg bursts from the follicle.

5. Light Spotting

A sudden drop in estrogen right before ovulation can sometimes cause a tiny amount of spotting. While rare, it's a very specific sign of high fertility.

6. Changes in Libido

Nature is smart. You might notice an increased sex drive right when you are most fertile. This is your body's biological way of encouraging reproduction.

7. Changes in the Cervix

If you check your cervix, you might notice it becomes higher, softer, and more open (SHOW: Soft, High, Open, Wet) during your fertile window.
